Polk City Christmas Parade
For the first time, Polk City will be having vendors in the park to coincide with the annual Christmas parade downtown this Saturday, December 8th. We'll be there from 4 PM to 6 PM. Join us in the park to find some lovely Christmas gifts for your special someones or even spoil yourself and say that Santa got it for you. I'll be showcasing my full line of handcrafted jewelry, fused glass pendants, handmade ceramic pendants and beads, plus some other new items. See you there!
Buy Handmade this Holiday
I'm sure by now many of you have already started picking out those perfect gifts for family, friends and co-workers. Have you taken the Handmade Pledge? This is a way to avoid the crowded malls and parking lots, avoid killing yourself trying to find that one hot holiday item that is selling for ridiculously inflated prices now on Ebay and will be everywhere sitting on shelves in January, and most of all, really let your friends and family know how much you care by giving that extra special, one of a kind gift. http://www.etsy.com/ is full of these beautiful handmade creations. They have shops that make everything from scrumptious edible delights, scentous bath and body products, clothing, stationary, jewelry, items for the home, toys, and don't forget the wildly bazaar items that will surely get a laugh, just to name a few. Another great bonus is that many of these shops have really great prices and run sales on top of their great prices, too. Forget about shopping in those crazy zoo department stores again!
Save your sanity, and some money, shop from your home in your pjs even, check out the many great shops of Etsy and buy handmade this holiday season!

Ramping up for the holidays
It was a pleasure meeting so many of you in Auburndale. I always love getting to meet you all face to face and to get feedback on my work.
With the show out of way, now it's time to build up my shop for the holiday rush. I have lots of great new ceramic pendant and bead designs that are already posted to my Etsy shop and I have many more that I just need to photograph and get listed. I have many more necklaces in a variety of price ranges and designs that I have started posting, too.
In process, I have some experimental pendants constructed of porcelain and stoneware that I'm working on, which I plan on melting some glass into. They have one firing left to go.
I also got some great dicroic glass scrap that I plan to make some beautiful pendants and earrings out of, maybe even some pins that look so wonderful on those sweaters and coats in the cooler weather. I have both the clear and black dicroic, so I have quite a lot of variations I can do with it. I'll have to see what strikes me when I sit down to make them.
I've added a link to the Etsy Mud Team Blog ring on my page. It should be active very shortly. Check this out to see some really wonderful clay artists. Yes, their work is wonderful, too! :o)
Loving this cooler weather we are finally getting here in Florida! Makes it a little easier to work around the kilns.

Getting Ready for Auburndale
On Saturday, October 27th, I will be exibiting at the Auburndale Crafts in the Park Art Festival in Downtown Auburndale, Florida, located just minutes off I-4 between Tampa and Orlando. Admission and parking are free and the festival will be running from 9 AM to 4 PM. Besides a wide variety of handmade arts and crafts, there will be live music, entertainment and great food. A fun time for the whole family!
This is the second year I will be exibiting at the Crafts in the Park Festival. I recently got a merchant account, so I will now also be able to accept credit and debit cards! Yeah!! I know many of you were disappointed last year when I couldn't, so now I'm ready for you. I'm also working on redesigning my booth, so I can fit in a lot more inventory and not be blown away if it gets a bit windy like last year.
Come on out for a great day! I'd love to meet you in person! :o)
For more information on the event check out http://www.auburndalefl.com/calendar.asp?CalID=17&EventID=8295&ViewType=5&CategoryIDs=0&OccDate=10-27-2007

Lots of new creations
I've delivered my wholesale order so I've had some time to make some new creations. I have several new necklaces featuring my ceramic focals and ceramic earrings to match. I also have several new fused glass pendants. I'll be listing them in my Etsy shop daily in case you see one here that is not in my shop yet. Just keep checking back for more goodies. www.ShifflettStudios.etsy.com
I will also be cleaning out my supplies inventory of items that I don't tend to use too often. I'll be letting them go at deep deep discounts, just to clear out some much needed room in my studio. This will include some metal alloy beads, earwires, toggle clasps, and various other findings. I also will be listing some glass, pearl, and stone beads that I had to purchase in bulk that I am way overstocked in. Take advantage of these great deals while they last.
Thanks for stopping by.

Busy Bee!
I have been a very busy bee lately. I have been creating new glass pendants and jewelry designs for the last few days in preparation for a wholesale account meeting with http://www.astralbeads.com/. All the effort and hard work has paid off!! I am happy to announce that the very large internet bead supplier, Astral Beads, will soon be carrying a variety of my designs as focal pieces in their soon to be released bead kits! I am so excited! I think this will be a wonderful partnership between Shifflett Pottery & Glass Works and Astral Beads. Keep an eye out for the new products and designs that will be coming. I'm sure you will love them!!

Welcome to my blog!
This whole blogging thing is pretty new to me, so bare with me until I learn the ropes.
I am a stay at home mom to a beautiful little girl, Brooke. In my spare time I love create ceramic beads and pendants, fused glass pendants and other creations, and jewelry using my little works of art. Please check out my shops on http://www.shifflettstudios.etsy.com/ and http://shifflettstudios.lov.li/users/2491 to view and purchase my work.
For those of you in the Central Florida area, I also am also available to do home parties. These come in two formats.
Bead Party:
If you yourself would like to learn how to make jewelry, and not spend a fortune doing it, I can show you and your friends how. My bead and silver prices are approximately 1/2 of what most bead shops charge. I come to you. I supply all the needed tools and materials and will show you how to make nearly what ever you want. It's a great fun way to learn & make great gifts for friends, family or even spoil yourself.
Jewelry Party:
Love handcrafted one of a kind jewelry? Don't fight the crowds and parking at those busy craft shows or bother looking through catalogs and waiting for your pretties to arrive, I bring all the goods to your home the night of the show. You can play dress up and see what looks wonderful and take it home the same day. If you don't see exactly what you like, I can also take custom orders. For quicker items like earrings, I can usually make exactly what you want the day of the party, if you don't see what you need in my premade inventory.
You can contact me to check availablity.
Thanks for checking out my blog. I'll try to update it at least on a bi-weekly basis so you know what I'm up to and can see what new stuff I have created.
